• You do not need a key to get into our unit. The Door Code will be provided prior to your trip!
• When leaving the unit, walk out the door, don’t try to flip anything mechanical on the inside of the door.. the little lever should be pointed up/down. If you switch it, you’ll lock yourself out!
• The door unit slams! Please close gently.
  
• The light switch on the half wall when you enter controls lights in the main living area...
• The other switch controls the outlet where the lamp and LED are plugged in (you can manually turn those off)
• Bedroom lights/fan are controlled 1) by flipping the switch, and then 2) by controlling with remote
• TVs… the TV-brand remotes will access apps and non-cable choices. The TiVo remotes only control cable
• In the bedroom, the volume control is on the side of the TV-brand remote

• If the bedroom is cold, there is a radiator. Clockwise is on/warmer, Counterclockwise to turn off. The EcoBee on the wall controls the heat/AC. Let us know if you have difficulties setting the temp.

• Window Shades in the Living Room are finicky… please just be gentle as you raise and lower
  
• Please be mindful of shower pooling… if it does, just rub your foot on the grate… sometimes it forms a vacuum
• If using the clothes dryer, please clean the dryer vent and empty the water tank in the upper left corner of the dryer
  
• If leaving the building, you can use the back stairs by our unit - just use the fob to get back in (Half Sour shortcut)

Some of our favorite local haunts (within 2-5 minute walking distance):

• 1. Roots Pizza - Great drinks, apps, fun pizza and great atmosphere
  
• 2. Lou Malnati’s Pizza - Our favorite deep dish pizza in Chicago. Easy to call ahead and walk to pick up
  
• 3. Taco Maya - Really solid Mexican takeout – local and delicious!
  
• 4. Peet’s Coffee - So good, so close
  
• 5. Stan’s Donuts - Best local donut, opens at 7am
  
• 6. Kasey’s Bar - Local neighborhood bar, right across the street – second oldest bar in Chicago!
  
• 7. Meli Café - Sweet spot, nice brunch!
  
• 8. Sofi Italian Restaurant - Amazing local Northern Italian café – fancy yet unpretentious. Everything is awesome
  
• 9. Press Coffee - Upscale bar with great eats. Coffee bar is cheeky with good coffee and breakfast sammies
  
• 10. The Dearborn Tavern - We like to go for Sunday brunch with live jazz (chicken sandwich and fish & chips)
  
• 11. South Loop Farmers Market - Great market with breakfast options, flowers, fresh produce, and local vendors! Open Mid May - Late October on Saturdays from 9am-1pm and Thursday nights from June - October from 4pm - 8pm!
• 12. Tottos Market - Right across the street with great snacks and swedish candy

Some of our favorite Chicago Spots, worth the Uber/Lyft:

• 1. Velvet Taco (Super unique tacos in Chicago (buffalo chicken, Tikka Masala, etc. located in the Gold Coast or West Loop)
  
• 2. Monteverde (West Loop Italian – get a reservation a month in advance. Worth it!!)
  
• 3. Beatrix (West Loop coffee bar, pastries, bakery brunch, bar, great food, great atmosphere)
  
• 4. Handlebar (Lincoln Park vegan – awesome, quaint spot. Dive bar vibes)
  
• 5. Cumin (Lincoln Park – best Indian)
  
• 6. Piece Pizza (Wicker Park – great thin crust pizza, also a nice local brewery)
  
• 7. Cindy’s Rooftop Bar (right across from Millenium Park)
  
• 8. Etta – multiple locations
  
• 9. Bar Sienna – West Loop
  
• 10. Wasabi - Best ramen EVER! They use pork brother and have vegetarian options (heads up if you don’t eat pork) No reservations but the wait time typically goes pretty quickly. The wait is well worth it!
• 11. Estereo - Amazing mezcal bar that has a ton of options. You can sample a ton of pours and the bartenders can explain the flights!
• 12. Big Star - Mexican spot in Wicker Park. Super fun spot with great happy hour!
• 13. Estereo - Great mezcal bar in Logan Square

Before you leave we ask that you wash the sheets and towels that you used. Allow a bit of time for the dryer (you need to empty the tank on the dryer – it pulls out from the top left corner on the dryer and you can dump the water in the shower). There will be another set of sheets in one of the closets so you can remake the bed and leave the sheets in the bin in the bathroom if you run out of time. Just leave the place ready for the next person to use.

Feel free to eat and drink whatever is there. Clean out the fridge of any food you may have in there that could go bad or expire. Garbage chute is at the end of the hall through the door by the elevators, alongside with recycling. We also ask that you request a cleaning service at the end of your trip.
